Game One Overview
Clarksville, Ark. – McMurry University homered twice and scored five runs in the tenth inning to secure a 9-4 win over the Eagles in game one. The Eagles would extend the game after Ben Matos singled in the game-tying run in the bottom of the ninth.
Taber Childs doubled in a run in the first. McMurry took a 2-1 advantage in the top of the third, but the Eagles responded with a run in the bottom half of the inning on a
Langdon Townsend solo home run. In the fourth,
Conner Reed singled in a run to push the lead to 3-2. Tied 3-3 in the seventh, McMurry scored a decisive run on a sacrifice fly in the top half of the frame to retake a 4-3 lead. The Eagles had chances in the seventh and the eighth loading the bases but came up empty. In the bottom of the ninth, Townsend smashed a single to left field that had a chance to score the game-winning run, but left fielder Xavier Escobar threw out
Maxon Beasha at the plate. McMurry scored all five runs in the tenth with two outs. The Eagles had 15 hits while McMurry recorded 14. Childs went 3-for-6 at the plate.
Game Two Overview
McMurry's pitching staff limited the Eagles to one run on nine hits in a 5-1 win in game two. McMurry took a 2-1 lead in the top of the third. In the seventh, McMurry added three runs to build a 5-1. In the bottom of the ninth, the Eagles loaded the bases with two outs, but couldn't push across any runs. Townsend and Childs each had two hits.
Jake Estrada went 6.2 innings and had eight strikeouts as the Eagles starter.
