Clarksville, Ark. - The Eagles dropped their first conference match of the season after Austin College posted a 3-0 win on Sunday afternoon.
The Eagles started slow but gained traction in the first set, reeling off five straight points to close the gap to 7-5. Austin College slowly built a 20-10 advantage and then closed out the first set 25-13.
The Eagles were plagued by another slow start in the second set falling behind 6-0 before scoring a point. Austin College heated up and led 15-4 and finished the set with a 25-11 win.
In the third set, Austin College built a 9-1 lead, but the Eagles rallied back with points to cut the deficit to 16-9. Austin College went ahead 22-12, but the Eagles scored three straight to climb within 22-15. But the visitors were able to secure the conference win posting a 25-17 third set victory.
Arianna Gomez had seven kills while
Lauralai Bradley had nine digs.
Jillian Childs had six assists.
The Eagles will hit the road for its next seven matches and won't play at home until October 17.
