THE BASICS
Sherman, Texas – Austin College recovered from a halftime deficit and upended the Eagles 79-71 on Thursday night in Texas. The Eagles led 36-35 at intermission thanks to hot shooting from the three-point line hitting 7-of-13. Austin College opened the second half with a layup and then quickly built an 11-point lead. Later in the half, the Eagles went on a run, capped by a
Tyce Gentry three-pointer to pull within 67-61 with 6:37 remaining. The Eagles continued to climb closer as
DJ Miller and Gentry hit free throws to make it 71-68 with less than four minutes to play. Miller's layup at the 1:09 mark got the Eagles within one point, but Austin answered with a layup and six free throws. Miller exploded for 22 points off the bench as he hit 4-of-6 from long-range.
TURNING POINT
After the Eagles cut the deficit to 71-70 with about a minute to play, Austin College scored eight points, including 6-of-6 from the free throw line, to secure the game.
