Shreveport, La. - Centenary College broke open a close game with a seven-run fifth inning and went on to defeat the Eagles 16-6 on Saturday to end the season for Ozarks.
Centenary struck first in the opening inning with an RBI single to take a 1-0 lead, but Ozarks responded in the third inning. Langdon Townsend delivered an RBI double, and Jacob Knox followed with an RBI single to give the Eagles a 2-1 advantage. The Gents answered in the bottom half of the inning, scoring three runs on a two-run single and a sacrifice fly to reclaim a 4-2 lead. The Eagles battled back in the fourth inning, tying the game at 4-4 behind a sacrifice fly from Taber Childs and an RBI single by Connor Reed. After Centenary regained a 5-4 lead later in the inning, the Eagles once again evened the score in the fifth when Michael White drove in a run with a single. The game turned decisively in the bottom of the fifth inning, as Centenary erupted for seven runs. The Eagles finished with 11 hits, led by Connor Reed, who went 3-for-4 with an RBI, and Rene Garcia, who also collected three hits. Townsend, Knox, and White each added an RBI.
