Jackson, Miss. - The University of the Ozarks women's soccer team earned a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Millsaps College on Sunday, as the Eagles used a strong defensive effort and a late goal from Angelina Lotz to secure the shutout.
Ozarks controlled much of the attacking play throughout the match, finishing with an 18-6 advantage in shots and a 10-1 edge in shots on goal.
The Eagles broke through for the game's only goal when Angelina Lotz found the back of the net in the 89th minute. Lotz finished with five shots, including three on goal, while Alessandra Aguilar also recorded five shots and three shots on target.
Addison Featherstone added three shots, with two on goal, while Genevieve Miller registered three shots and one shot on goal. The Eagles held Millsaps to just six total shots and one shot on goal. Bridgette Truesdale made one save in goal to preserve the shutout and secure the Eagles' victory. Featherstone received the assist.
The Eagles' balanced attack and defensive pressure ultimately proved to be the difference, as Ozarks finished the contest with a commanding 10-1 advantage in shots on frame.
The victory also gave head coach Natalie Dreyer her 50th career win at Ozarks.
