Game One Overview
Clarksville, Ark. – Lyon College had a big third inning en route to a 14-2 win in game one against the Eagles.
Taber Childs blasted a solo home run in the first inning for an early 1-0 lead. Lyon evened the game, 1-1, with an RBI single in the third. Later in the third, Lyon loaded the bases and walked in a run to take the lead. Lyon continued to collect hits and finished the frame with a 8-1 lead. In total, there were six hits in the third for Lyon. In the sixth, Lyon added five more runs to put the game out of reach. The Eagles totaled four hits while Lyon had 15.
Game Two Overview
The Eagles got strong pitching performances in game two to pick up a 3-2 win over Lyon College. Childs blasted his second home run of the day in the first inning, this time a two-run shot, and the Eagles led 2-1. The Eagles added another run in the third on a
Phillip Drilling groundout RBI. Meanwhile
Evan Curry cruised through the game even though he ran into a little trouble in the fifth. Curry allowed two base runners, but he forced a flyout and a groundout.
Darren Crane was then inserted in the top of the sixth and he quickly got a strike out, a lineout and a strikeout looking. Curry allowed just one earned run and struck out two in his outing.
Rene Garcia was then inserted in the bottom of the seventh and he forced a groundout against his first batter. With one out, the Scots had back-to-back hits and drew a walk to load the bases. Lyon recorded a hit to score one bringing the Scots within 3-2. But Garcia recorded a strikeout swinging to end the game.
Conner Reed went 2-for-3 for the Eagles. Childs now has four home runs on the season. Curry improved to 1-1 on the mound.
