McMurry Wins Game Three

Clarksville, Ark. – A big early offensive surge from McMurry proved too much for the Eagles as McMurry held on for a 13–8 win Saturday at Lonnie Qualls Field despite five home runs from Ozarks.

McMurry jumped out quickly, scoring four runs in the first inning and adding another in the second before erupting for five runs in the third to build a commanding 10–0 lead. Despite the early deficit, Ozarks mounted a strong comeback attempt. Langdon Townsend sparked the rally with an RBI double in the fifth, and the Eagles exploded for four runs in the sixth inning. Taber Childs started the frame with a solo home run, and Townsend followed later with a three-run homer to cut the deficit to 10–5. Ozarks continued chipping away in the eighth when Gabriel Ellison and Matthew McDonald launched back-to-back solo home runs to make it 10–7. McMurry responded in the ninth inning, however, scoring three insurance runs highlighted by a two-RBI single from Collin Bruning to extend the lead to 13–7. Tyler Michlitsch added a solo home run for Ozarks in the bottom half, but the rally fell short.
