Conway, Ark.-The University of the Ozarks men's tennis team opened the 2020 spring season with a win against Hendrix College and a loss against John Brown University.

The Eagles played both matches in Conway February 15. Against Hendrix, the Eagles posted a dominating 9-0 win. In No 1 doubles, Angelo Ito Tost and Jonah Martinez cruised past Eric Meyne and Micah Moore for an 8-0 win. At the No 2 position, Cole Lankford and TJ Saniseng topped Lance Smith and Parker Work 8-1. In No. 3 doubles, Derek Nix and Bryce Johnson fought to a 8-7 win over Joseph Donaldson and Connor Brooks.

In singles action, Ito Tost posted a 6-2, 6-0 win over Eric Meyne in No. 1 singles. Cole Lankford took a 7-5, 6-3 win against Micah Moore at No. 2. At the No 3 spot, Jonah Martinez defeated Joseph Donaldson 6-2, 6-0. At the No 4 position, TJ Saniseng picked up a 6-3, 6-1 win over Parker Work. At the No 5 position, Parker Morey defeated Aubrey French 8-1 and at the No. 6 position, Derek Nix took an 8-4 win against Nikhil Nair.

John Brown University proved to be a tougher match as the Eagles lost 6-3. In doubles play, Ito Tost and Martinez won 8-4 against Logan Wheeler and Cade Cox. Ito Tost won at the No. 1 singles spot 6-4, 6-4 over Cade Cox. The only other singles winner was Walker Murray at the No. 6 position, a 6-4, 7-6 win.

The Eagles will travel to Abilene, Texas, to take on Hardin-Simmons, Howard Payne and McMurry February 21-23.
